1. What were your expectations before joining and how have they been met in the first few months?
Before joining Navmatix, I was a bit apprehensive because everything sounded almost 'too good to be true' during the interview process. However, I quickly realized that the company truly stands by its words. My expectations have been fully met, and I was not unpleasantly surprised by anything. In fact, I was impressed by how smoothly and quickly I integrated into the team and the workflow. The transition was seamless, and I felt included in the processes much faster than I had anticipated.
2. Is there any event or aspect that happened during your first months at Navmatix that you didn't expect?
An unexpected but great aspect was the monthly one-on-one meetings with the Project Manager. I didn’t expect the company to have such structured check-ins, but I find them incredibly beneficial. Having dedicated time to reflect on my work and overall experience makes me feel supported and helps me stay aligned with my goals. It’s a great initiative that enhances both personal and professional growth.
3. How do you perceive the support of the team in the first days and weeks?
As I previously mentioned, the support from the team was great from the very beginning. On top of that, even HR took the time to check in and ensure everything was going well, which was really awesome.
4. What inspired you to pursue a career in software development, and is there a specific moment or experience that reinforced your passion for coding?
I’ve always loved problem-solving since I was a kid, and while I didn’t have a clear vision of what I wanted to do during my studies, I was naturally drawn to more technical fields. Funny enough, I don’t even recall exactly why I chose Software Engineering for university—it just felt like the right direction.
I studied at CTU, and it was quite challenging. There were times when I even questioned whether software engineering was the right path for me. However, I’m really glad I stuck with it because, in the end, the developer role turned out to be a great fit for me. Through my work experience, I’ve realized that this is truly something I want to continue pursuing.
5. What motivated you to join Navmatix, and how do you see your role contributing to the company’s goals?
What motivated me to join Navmatix was the fascinating problem domains the company works with—it’s genuinely interesting and exciting. On top of that, I appreciated how open the company is to new technologies and innovations, which made me feel like it would be a great place to grow professionally.
As a fresh graduate, I believe I can bring a new perspective to the team. I’m eager to learn, adapt, and contribute with fresh ideas while also gaining valuable experience from my colleagues.
6. What aspects of your role as a Junior Developer at Navmatix are you most excited about, and why?
I’m mostly focused on backend development, but I also have the opportunity to write frontend code, which is great. Having the chance to work on both sides of development keeps things interesting and helps me expand my skill set.
What excites me the most is that I’ve already encountered challenging tasks early on. It’s really motivating to be trusted with complex problems so quickly, as it allows me to learn and grow at a fast pace.
Another thing I really appreciate is that there are a lot of meetings where I get to be fully involved in the process. It’s not just a case of 'here’s your task, do it'—instead, I get to see and understand the bigger picture.
7. How do you prefer to communicate with team members when you need help or when you want to propose an idea?
In general, I prefer to communicate in person, as I find it more natural and efficient. However, since some team members work mostly remotely, most things are handled through calls, which is totally fine.
One thing I appreciate is that I feel like I can propose or ask anything—the communication is always straightforward and honest. There’s no hesitation in discussing ideas or concerns.
8. What skills or knowledge areas are you most eager to develop as part of your role at Navmatix?
Since I’m relatively new to C#—having mostly worked with Java before—I’m eager to deepen my understanding of the language and its ecosystem. I want to become more proficient in C# and truthly understand its best practices and nuances.
As a backend developer, I also work with databases, so expanding my knowledge in this area is another key goal for me. Additionally, I hope to gain more experience in software architecture and related concepts, as I find it quite interesting and valuable for long-term development growth.
9. Where do you see yourself in the next two to three years, and how can Navmatix help you achieve those goals?
I don’t have a clear vision yet of where I see myself in the next two to three years, but I definitely want to focus on gaining as much technical experience as possible.
10. Outside of work, what hobbies or interests do you enjoy that help you stay creative or recharge your energy?
Outside of work, I enjoy art of all kinds—I love painting and expressing creativity through different mediums. Music is also a huge part of my life.
I listen to it all the time, and it helps me stay inspired. I’m also into self-development, often listening to podcasts, which give me new perspectives and ideas for personal growth.
That’s also why I don’t code much outside of work—I prefer using my free time to unwind, learn, and stay mentally refreshed. Spending time with friends and walks are also a huge part of that.
